Fine Motor Skills with Stickers

Do you remember the excitement in your childhood years when you received a brand new pack of stickers? Or, maybe your teacher put a memorable sticker on an A+ test?!! Just think of the joy your preschooler will get when they find out today it’s fine motor skills with stickers!

STICKER ACTIVITY BUNDLE

Stickers are not just fun for kids — moms and teachers alike will love how they benefit their precocious preschoolers. They keep little ones busy, promote fine motor skills, concentration, creativity, and best of all — tons of fabulous fun! Here are some easy fine motor skill tasks including sticker worksheets, sticker activities, and more!

Sticker Worksheets

The challenge as preschool mothers and teachers is keeping kids busy while building new skill sets. It’s easy to find free preschool worksheets that include sticker activities — plus they’re simple, yet very effective and creative!

As busy moms and teachers, we need all the help we can get in preparing our preschoolers for the next steps in learning. That’s why these fine motor sticker worksheets are a great way to get them started!

And, I have good news! You’ll find plenty of free sticker worksheets below to help with concentration, critical thinking, fine motor, and dexterity. Let’s get started!

Sticker Mazes

Sticker Mazes are so much fun for kids — plus, they play a huge role in learning concentration and problem-solving skills. Grab your choice of stickers as your child leads each piece in the right direction.

As your little leader places each sticker in the right spot, see if he or she can create a pattern of rainbow colors. Then, ask them to find out how many stickers did it take to get to the finish line!

Looking for more free mazes to challenge your kids’ brains? Try our Brainy Maze website for a TON of FREE and motivating problem-solving resources!

Stickers on a Line

Writing a straight line with numbers is an easy way to build your kid’s math counting and practice focusing skills. Simply ask your student to add exactly 10 stickers in a straight line using the sticker resource below. Our Sticker Number worksheet allows your child to learn counting, practice concentration, and strengthen hands eye coordination.

Sticker Names and Sticker Letters

Another innovative way to utilize the versatility of stickers is by writing your student’s name. Make it large enough for stickers to line up directly on each letter. They can also use the letters in their name to guide them — encourage them to place small stickers in the right spot.

And, of course, this requires concentration and fine motor practice while reinforcing letter and name identification. See above for a great example on how to make this activity fun and effective with sticker names and sticker letters!

Sticker Patterns

Identifying patterns with preschoolers is fundamental to math concepts. It’s an important key to learning by helping children observe and make predictions. Plus, understanding patterns prepares your child for learning more complex math concepts.

Using sticker activities for encouraging patterns is another easy idea to incorporate with just a few steps. Simply grab some star stickers (or any variety of colored stickers) and show them a pattern with colors. See above Patterns with Stickers image for some helpful and creative ideas.

Sticker Shapes and Sticker Tracing

Smily face stickers are perfect for this next sticker printable — Sticker Shapes Worksheets! There are 3 shapes: circle, triangle, and square. Your student will use a color for each shape and fill it in with the right amount of stickers.

Sticker Tracing

Then, your student can grab a writing utensil (like a crayon, marker or colored pencil) to practice his pre-writing skills. Your child can start tracing each of the 3 shapes using an assortment of colors. Or, consider asking your child to trace the stickers for extra practice with fine motor skills.

Below you’ll find 2 handy free sticker shape worksheets that include 3 common shapes (circle, triangle, square) and more unique shape sizes (rhombus, rectangle, oval).

Each shape worksheet provides an exciting challenge of learning new shapes, refining their prewriting skills, building concentration, and developing hand-eye coordination.

Sticker Graphs

This is a really fun sticker printable your kids will love! It may be a bit challenging for your child but with a little guidance, it will give them a great head start. It encourages confidence, helps them identify patterns, and builds critical thinking skills.

Choose 7 different types of smaller stickers (colors or pictures). Add them to the bottom of the “graph” area. Then, randomly add those same types of stickers in the “count” section (up to 5 stickers).

Lastly, ask your child to look in the count section, and fill in each box. Try using a colored crayon that represents each sticker your student finds. Consider asking your child to draw with a different color when marking each type of sticker.

Sticker Games

This sticker game ‘Seek and Find with Stickers‘ needs a little help from moms and teachers. It’s a little like BINGO, just call out a lower case or upper case letter, and as your child finds it, they place a sticker carefully in the respective circle. Or, if you’re busy, fill up a jar or container of pre-made letters and ask your child to choose one at a time. Then, he will place the star or small sticker in the right place.

Another creative way for moms to get involved in using this preschool sticker worksheet for the game of ‘I SPY’. Simply state “I SPY with my little eye…a Big Letter A”. And, continue the process until your child is finished with a square pattern.

Sticker ABCs

You’ll certainly want to download this Sticker Letter A sheet — it’s a versatile way to gain letter-writing practice, fine motor development, and focus skills. See this wonderful sticker worksheet below! Print the entire Alphabet of Sticker Worksheets Here.

Your students will first practice writing Letter A on top of the worksheet. Then, ask them to grab circle-shaped stickers and build a Big Letter A. How many stickers does it take to make an upper case A?!!! What words also start with Letter A besides Alligator?

Peeling Stickers

Remember, peeling and re-peeling stickers require strength in fingers so continue to encourage your child if he/she tends to take them off. For ease of peeling stickers, try a protective sheet for a clean pull off.

Alternatively, there are many fantastic sets of reusable stickers and sticker mats you can purchase from you local educational supply store. A favorite of mine are these Melissa and Doug Peel & Stick Habitat Scenes. Not only are they great for small motor control, but the content is educational as well and your little one will be learning animal science while having fun!

There are so many ingenious ways to utilize stickers to their fullest potential. Don’t miss out on these wonderful opportunities! If you need stickers, buy this affordable pack of stickers on Amazon. It’s a huge assortment of stickers that is perfect for homeschool moms and classroom teachers!

Fine Motor Skills with Pipe Cleaners

Got some pipe cleaners lying around and not sure what to do with them? We’ve got wonderful news for you! Here are some great pipe cleaner craft ideas that will not only build your child’s creative side but also strengthen their fine motor skills!

Fine Motor Activities with Pipe Cleaners

Pipe cleaners are so versatile and easy to use for toddlers and preschoolers. These fuzzy, bendable, and colorful sticks are affordable and can be used for cutting, bending, lacing, shaping, and even wrapping! I’m going to show you a ton of pipe cleaner activities that complement any craft, present, or holiday!

Ideas for Strengthening Fine Motor Skills

If you’ve lived in the preschool world for any length of time, you’ve heard the buzz word ‘fine motor‘. Young children are still developing the small muscles in their hands and fingers. If they strengthen or practice those fine motor movements, it will help them build pre-writing skills faster. And, there are so many tools to use, including pipe cleaners, like pom poms, scissors, and more!

Lacing Beads on Pipe Cleaners for Perfect Presents

This fine motor activity not only develops hands dexterity, but it’s also a really easy way to show patterns, create beautiful art, and a perfect presentation for loved ones.

Not only can you use pipe cleaners to make bracelets and necklaces, try a cutting exercise by asking your toddler to cut straws in several pieces.

  • Cut an example of a 1-inch size straw piece for modeling.
  • Using caution, ask your child to cut several pieces of straw using a multitude of colors. All straw pieces should fit almost the entire length of a pipe cleaner, about 6 1-inch pieces.
  • After cut straws are complete, string straws on the pipe cleaner. Or, in other words, add each straw piece until about a 1/2 – 1 inch on each side is left.
  • Secure the straws with decorative and colorful beads between each straw.
  • Fasten the pipe cleaner ends together to form a bracelet or necklace.

Colorful Hands-On Activities with Pipe Cleaners

This is a great hands-on fine motor activity for building small muscle strength, counting exercise, and identifying color patterns.

  • Layout several colors of pipe cleaners.
  • Grab a pile of a small, colorful array of clothespins and ask your child to match the colors.
  • Then, find out if they can count all of the clothespins on each pipe cleaner!

Bending Pipe Cleaners to make shapes for Building Flexibility

Here is an innovative fine motor idea for teaching more unique shapes like octagons and hexagons.

  • Grab some pipe cleaners and those extra cut straws.
  • Show your child the fun shapes they can make and count each side for extra practice! It’s easy peasy and so much fun to do with the kids!
  • Or, draw several types of shapes on paper and ask your preschooler to mimic the shape with pipe cleaners!
  • Show your student how a ruler helps make a straight line. Then, grab a marker and begin drawing shapes like squares, rectangles, and more!
  • Now it’s time for your preschooler to make their own shapes with pipe cleaners of any color!
  • What about some creative ideas for unique shapes with many sides? Try making some rainbow color bracelets with leftover cut straws. Your child will love parading around with their crafted and creative jewelry!

Wrapping Pipe Cleaners around Objects for Dexterity

Pencils not only help with writing, but they’re also a great tool for creating unique shapes and curly pipe cleaners! Wrap Pipe cleaners around any object, including writing utensils! Try more than one color while you’re at it! They can keep it on for extra support from slipping or pull it off for a curly pull toy!

Develop Fine Motor using Play Dough and Pipe Cleaners

What kiddo doesn’t love playdough? It’s squishy, soft, and super flexible. And, you can add it to the repertoire of your pipe cleaner palette! As your student cuts pieces of pipe cleaner, grab some extra playdough for play dough poke! Note that some child safety scissors will not be strong enough to cut through a pipe-cleaner. It takes quite a bit of strength to cut through the wire, so when planning this activity with younger children, plan on doing the cutting beforehand.

Just roll up some balls with your playdough and make some unique crafts, whether it looks like an alien, animal or an arachnid! It’s their choice — get those creative juices flowing.

There are so many fine motor skill ideas using pipe cleaners — just start with some of these innovative, inspiring ideas and I guarantee your child will discover even more!

Check out our handy and helpful fine motor task cards below, designed just for precious little hands!

Shapes Worksheets for Preschool

Learning to identify shapes and patterns is an important skill you’ll want your preschooler to have! Not only will it pave the way for important math concepts down the road, but it will help build strong visual discrimination skills students can use across all subjects.

Shape Worksheets

Preschool students will likely already have a good understanding of basic shapes, just from exploring the world around them. Many children’s learning toys incorporate shape identification as a target skill. However, there are quite a few obscure shapes that your preschool students might not be familiar with.

Shape worksheets are a simple way to help your child get a grasp for these new and different shapes…while reviewing the ones they do know and building confidence in the process.

Preschool Shapes

This shape identification worksheet covers the following shapes:

  • circle
  • square
  • triangle
  • oval
  • diamond
  • star
  • hexagon
  • heart
  • rectangle
  • trapezoid

Color By Shape:

The premise of the activity page is that students will color each shape flower according to the chart at the top. For young students, who cannot yet read their color words, you might pre-color the shape chart to make an easy reference for them.

Once completed, students will have an entire “garden” of Spring Shape Flowers. These sheets are great for take home preschool activities or for early finishers.

Shape Bingo

BINGO is a game every child LOVES to play! But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be educational as well! We’ve paired the best of both worlds with our educational bingo games! Bingo is a game is based compleely on luck, making it fair for even the youngest of children.

When you use themeatic BINGO boards, such as our free Shape Bingo printables, you’ll not only be having fun in your classroom, but you’ll be help students learn to identify shapes and their names.

These free bingo printables print two boards to a sheet. If you want them to last longer in your classroom, laminate them before cutting the boards apart. That way you’ll add stregenth and durability to them, which will come in handy when your children are asking to play again and again.

These boards does contain some duplicate shapes, so there is some strategy involved in the game play. You’ll want to be sure to come alongside your younger students and show them opportunities to make a good play when they have multiple locations they can cover.

There are three pages in total with two boards on each sheet, giving you 6 bingo boards. So, print what you will need for your classroom, understanding that any number over 6 might result in multiple winners (depending on the strategy involved).
