Thanksgiving is a great holiday you can celebrate with your children. Whether you are teaching at home or in a standard classroom, this holiday can be festive and provide engaging ways to learn new skills and concepts. If you’re doing a letter of the week program or a theme of the week, I highly recommend taking a break from your regular schedule and planning out a fun Thanksgiving Week for children to enjoy. Visit your local library for Turkey themed books, read up on the history of this holiday and provide children with a basic understanding of why we celebrate. Below are some free Thanksgiving preschool printables:
A simple coloring page with cute easy color thanksgiving characters. Turn these into Thanksgiving placemats by mounting to colored construction paper and laminating.
Simple coloring page and cut away turkey feathers for children to write in what they are thankful for.
A simple daily math worksheet for children to work on measuring, counting, basic addition, graphing, number order and following directions.
A free Ten Frame with Turkey and Thanksgiving theme counters. These punch out easily with a 1″ circle punch and provide children with fun hands on math activities during your Thanksgiving Unit.
Five cut away paper bracelets for children to write in what they are thankful for. These make great take home items for classroom activities.
Use these with the thanksgiving counters above to create your own pattern making centers. Children will learn ABAB, AABB, and ABB, ABC, and ABCB Patterns.
